Downtown Glendale Hosts Block Party to Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month
Saturday, October 11, 2025 – Music, Food, Art, and Community Come Together
Glendale, AZ – The streets of Downtown Glendale will come alive on Saturday, October 11, 2025 as the community gathers to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with a vibrant block party featuring live entertainment, cultural experiences, and family-friendly fun.
This free, open-to-the-public event will showcase the diversity and richness of Hispanic culture with a full day of activities including:
• 2 Blocks of Live DJs, Mariachi’s, Live Music and headlining Powerdrive Band filling the streets with music
• Opening ceremony + emcee to kick off the festivities
• Live mural by Glendale native Johnny Murales & live art demonstrations by local artists
• Dance class and performances for all skill levels
• Beer garden for guests 21+
• Local market Mercado Corazón featuring handmade goods
• Featured dishes + cultural stories presented by participating restaurants
• Block Party Vibes with tents, tables, and plenty of space to celebrate
“This is a great opportunity for our families and youth to see how hispanic culture shapes our city,” said district Councilman Leandro Baldenegro, “It’s not just food and music, it’s a legacy of pride, history and community we want to share with everyone.“ Local business owner and event organizer Merihelen Nuñez added, “This event is all about connection. We want to bring people together to honor Hispanic heritage, support local businesses and artists, and create a space where everyone feels welcome to celebrate and learn.”
Guests are encouraged to bring friends, family, and a big appetite. Participating restaurants will highlight special dishes and share the history and cultural significance behind each plate, turning dining into a storytelling experience.

Downtown Glendale to Launch First-Ever “623 Day” on June 23 – A Celebration of Local Flavor, Community, and Small Business Pride
Glendale, AZ – Glendale is getting its own signature celebration with the launch of the inaugural 623 Day on June 23, 2025. Inspired by the popular 602 Day in Phoenix, 623 Day honors the vibrant communities within the 623 area code, bringing together residents, visitors, and small businesses to celebrate Glendale’s unique spirit, local pride, and sense of place.
On this day, small businesses across Downtown Glendale will feature exclusive deals and special events priced at just $6.23, nodding to the city’s area code and hometown pride.
Here’s a taste of what to expect on 623 Day:
• Tangled Root will host a special evening Sound Bath session at 6:23 PM for only $6.23, offering a perfect chance to relax and reconnect.
• Pink House Boutique will highlight the Arizona lifestyle with select desert essential sunglasses $6.23.
• Pizza Old Roma will serve up a community favorite with a medium pie for just $6.23.
• Blue Corn Cafe & Bakery will serve up community favorite fresh baked classic sourdough loaf for $6.23.
• Many more local shops, restaurants, and service providers throughout the Downtown area will roll out unique offers to celebrate the day.
“623 Day is more than a number—it’s a celebration of where we live, who we are, and the local businesses that make our community thrive,” said Glendale Ocotillo district Council member Leandro Baldenegro., one of the event’s supporters. “This day is all about encouraging our neighbors to explore the downtown, support small businesses, and embrace the local pride we share in Glendale.”
“623 Day is about celebrating the local flavor, culture, and businesses that make Glendale and the West Valley so special,” said local vintage store owner Matt from Cactus VHS.
“It’s an invitation to explore your neighborhood, support the local economy, and have fun doing it.” said Kolby Waters, owner of Pizza Old Roma.
Adding to the significance of the day, local council member Leandro Baldenegro is currently working on an official proclamation, recognizing 623 Day as an annual celebration of Downtown Glendale’s community spirit and entrepreneurial backbone.
